Pathways to Care: Health & Social Care Foundations plus Personal Development 

This is a 12 week course that is delivered in the home to students who are unable to attend on site provision. 

This comprehensive course is designed for students interested in pursuing a career in health and social care. It provides a solid foundation in key concepts, practices, and skills essential for success in the sector.

This course can be accredited with the NCFE at Level 1 or Level 2

Key topics include:

  • Understanding Human Growth and Development: Exploring the physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development stages across the lifespan and their implications for care.

  • Health and Social Care Values: Examining the core values that underpin effective care, such as dignity, respect, and confidentiality, and how to apply these in practice.

  • Effective Communication Skills: Developing the ability to communicate effectively with service users, families, and colleagues in a variety of care settings.

  • Promoting Healthy Living: Learning about the factors that influence health and wellbeing and strategies for promoting a healthy lifestyle within the community.

  • Introduction to Health and Social Care Settings: Gaining insight into various roles within the health and social care sector and understanding the principles of effective teamwork and collaboration.

  • Safeguarding and Protection: Understanding the importance of safeguarding vulnerable individuals, including recognizing signs of abuse and knowing how to respond appropriately.

The course combines theoretical learning with practical experiences, delivered by qualified teachers and experienced mentors, ensuring students gain both the knowledge and skills necessary for further study or entry-level positions in health and social care. By the end of the course, students will be well-prepared to make informed contributions to the wellbeing of individuals and communities.
