Understanding Alcohol: Awareness and Responsible Consumption

This course is a 6  week course,  delivered in the home to students who are unable to attend on site provision. 

This course can be accredited by the NCFE at Level 1 or Level 2 

Introduction to Alcohol Awareness:

  • Overview of alcohol as a substance and its cultural significance.

  • Types of alcoholic beverages and their characteristics.

Alcohol Metabolism and Effects on the Body:

  • Understanding how the body processes alcohol: absorption and metabolism.

  • Short-term effects of alcohol consumption, including intoxication and impaired judgment.

  • Long-term health risks associated with excessive drinking.

Alcohol and Mental Health:

  • Exploring the relationship between alcohol use and mental health disorders.

  • Recognising signs of alcohol use disorder and its impact on overall well-being.

Safe Drinking Guidelines:

  • Overview of recommended guidelines for alcohol consumption.

  • Importance of moderation and recognizing personal limits.

Social and Legal Implications:

  • Understanding the legal drinking age and alcohol-related laws in the UK.

  • Discussing the social consequences of excessive drinking on relationships and communities.

Strategies for Responsible Consumption:

  • Identifying triggers for excessive drinking and developing coping strategies.

  • Exploring alcohol-free alternatives and the benefits of moderation.

Creating a Personal Action Plan:

  • Guidance on developing a personalised plan for responsible drinking.

  • Setting goals for healthier consumption habits and lifestyle choices.

By the end of the course, participants will have a comprehensive understanding of alcohol awareness and will be equipped with the tools to make informed choices about alcohol consumption in their daily lives.
