Foundations in Early Years Education and Care

This is a 12 week course that is delivered in the home to students who are unable to attend on site provision. 

This course can be accredited with the NCFE at Level 1 or Level 2

This comprehensive course is designed for individuals seeking to understand and excel in the field of early years education and care. It provides a solid foundation in key principles, practices, and theories related to the development and education of young children. Key topics include:

  • Child Development: Exploring the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social milestones of children from birth to age five.

  • The Role of Play in Learning: Understanding how play facilitates learning and development, and how to create enriching play environments.

  • Early Years Frameworks: Examining relevant frameworks and policies, such as the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), and their implications for practice.

  • Supporting Diverse Needs: Learning strategies to support children with varying needs, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

  • Building Relationships with Families: Emphasising the importance of partnership with families and communities in supporting children’s learning and well-being.

  • Safeguarding and Well-being: Understanding safeguarding principles, child protection policies, and promoting children's well-being in early years settings.

Delivered by qualified educators and experienced practitioners, this course combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills, preparing students for a rewarding career in early years education and care, or for further study in the field.
